The giant hill slide at Kenmore Elementary has been synonymous with the school itself for generations, but the playground structure nearly met its end this year because of safety concerns. See the rest of the story here

On Saturday I took a tour of the Northshore Townhomes and found out that not all of the 86 townhomes are for lease, about half of the buildings are still listed for sale.
Prudential Real Estate agent, Dominic Lau stated that a “Grand Opening” is planned for the weekend of September 6-7. The Northshore Townhomes are located at 18505 71st Ave NE in Kenmore.

How do you feel about passenger ferry service coming to your community? We want to hear your ideas and suggestions.
Please join us for a small group discussion with King County Ferry District (KCFD) Board Supervisor Bob Ferguson and community leaders about the potential for passenger ferries serving north Lake Washington.
The KCFD was formed to expand transportation options for county residents through passenger ferry service. Passenger ferries can play an important role in helping to relieve traffic congestion and provide valuable travel alternatives, particularly when roadways are closed or constricted. They can also promote economic development, provide tourism opportunities and connect communities.
The KCFD currently provides service between West Seattle and downtown Seattle and Vashon Island and downtown Seattle. The KCFD is also exploring up to five potential routes across Lake Washington and Puget Sound, including service to the north end of Lake Washington. Analysis of these routes is underway.
Please join us at this important meeting. We’ll provide a brief overview about the KCFD, followed by a discussion to hear your comments, concerns and ideas.
Please contact Natalie Quist at (206) 291-5525 or nataliequist@gmail.com to RSVP, or if you have questions.
Hope to see you there!

The Burke-Gilman Trail has been detoured from west of 65th Ave. NE (across from Sherwin-Williams) to east of 65th Ave. NE (across from QQ Bistro). Signage has been posted to alert trail users of the detour and to help guide them onto the temporary paths to and from NE 175th St. Trail users should be aware that large trucks operate in this area and should carefully and alertly enter and exit the NE 175th St. roadway.
The trail detour will remain in place while crews realign 65th Ave. NE. The current 65th Ave. NE roadway on the south side of SR 522 will be shifted east to align with 65th Ave. NE. on the north side of SR 522. Crews will also be grading, landscaping and undergrounding utilities in a joint utility trench in the area.
For more details on the detour route and to view a map, visit www.KenmoreSR522.com.
